What We Believe

1. Our Mission

a. It is the mission, the driving purpose, of Calvary Baptist Church to lead every person to become a fully-devoted follower of Christ.

b. We understand that the local church should provide opportunities for members and guests to participate in five critical pursuits:

i. Worship
ii. Fellowship
iii. Discipleship
iv. Ministry
v. Evangelism

2. Our Fundamental Beliefs

a. Concerning Jesus Christ

i. Jesus Christ is the one and only Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life. He stated that His reason for coming to the earth is to provide salvation for sinful man.
ii. Jesus Christ died on a cross, was buried and was raised from the dead on the third day in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy.
iii. Jesus Christ is the one and only way for a person to receive forgiveness for his/her sins.

b. Concerning Sin and Salvation

i. Sin exists in our world. Sin is a willful disobedience of man to the will of God in his/her life.
ii. The result of sin in a person's life is complete separation from God, both in this world and in eternity.
iii. It is necessary that a person recognize his/her personal sin and his/her need for a savior.
iv. Jesus Christ is the provision of God for the forgiveness of sin.
v. A person may receive the gift of salvation by placing his/her faith in the power of Jesus Christ to save him/her.

c. Concerning the Bible

i. The Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God.
ii. The Bible is God's revelation of Himself to man.
iii. The Bible is completely true and trustworthy.
iv. The Bible is God's truth without any mixture of error.
v. The Bible is the one standard by which all of human conduct should be tested.

d. Concerning Baptism -

i. Baptism is the act of being immersed in water as a symbol of the "death to the power of sin" and the "rebirth" into a life of faith.
ii. Baptism is an act of submission to the express wishes of Jesus Christ. It is not a requirement of salvation.

e. Concerning Membership
We believe that the church has 5 expectations of members. These are:

i. A member should have a PERSONAL salvation experience.
ii. A member should have a PASSION for spiritual growth.
iii. A member should have a POSITIVE spirit toward the leadership and the vision of the
church.
iv. A member should have a PATTERN of systematic giving.
v. A member should have a PLACE of ministry.
